Apple brandy, Orgeat, Bitters

Ingredients:

  •  2 oz. Laird's 100 Proof Apple Brandy
  • .5 oz. Orgeat (recipe below)
  • 4 dashes Angostura bitters

Combine:

  • Stir with ice, then strain into a chilled coupe
  • Garnish with an orange peel

 

Notes:

  • Orgeat is an almond flavored syrup. I made mine at home in about 20 minutes, so it's not too difficult. This recipe is from  Meehan's Bartender Manual
    • Toast almonds
    • Put in blender with water
    • Strain
    • This creates almond milk. 
    • Heat the almond milk in a saucepan with sugar
    • Add cognac, Amaretto, a a few dashes of rose water. I didn't have rose water so used a few drops of vanilla extract instead which worked well.
